It’s the weekly review meeting at a local hotel. Once a week, each district’s team meets at a hotel to give feedback on activities and write reports. There are six of us, and we do what we always do when we meet, and what Rwandans do best – shake hands. The Rwandan newspaper, The New Times, had an article a week ago or so back discussing whether Rwandans will be likely to give this up, considering hugging and handshaking are so much a part of their culture. I’d discussed it at the weekend with the other two volunteers and we thought it unlikely.

Rwanda authorities have installed portable hand-washing facilities at a bus station in Kigali, as a precaution against coronavirus. There are still no cases here.
