22nd March 2020

It’s Mother’s Day and I email my mum.  I gave them an old iphone and an ipad before I life, but my mum refuses to move from her old style non-smart phone and my dad has refused to have a mobile at all, saying he doesn't like being contacted at home, let along when he's out.  It seems they haven't had them on, or somethings gone wrong because no WhatsApp or FaceTime call is going through.

I’ve sent my mum a gift via Amazon. My youngest sister goes and leaves presents on the doorstep, and chats to them from the gate, which she films. It’s good to see them and they seem on good form.

I do an online order with HeHe Mart, who deliver food locally in Kigali by Moto. I ask my landlady if that is OK, and whether she’d rather they left the food outside of the compound.  She’s fine with it. The order is several hours late – they’ve had an abundance of orders that they are struggling to fulfil. Other businesses are attempting to keep their businesses going through home delivery too and advertising through social media. It also gives Moto drivers some work.

The Ministry of Health have messaged on Twitter that if anyone has a question on Covid-19, they can post this and will be given an answer.  They are answering the concerns that people have in order, giving them lengthy responses and support.

Two more cases have been identified bringing the total to 19.
